In contemporary society, peer pressure arises not only from competition in academic performance, extracurricular activities, and employment opportunities, but also from family and societal expectations, which can negatively affect individuals’ mental health. This study is based on survey data collected from 84 students currently enrolled at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education. The findings reveal that students perceive peer pressure as a common phenomenon, exerting both positive and negative influences on their psychology, behavior, and academic outcomes. Learning environments, family expectations, and levels of competition are identified by students as key factors shaping the intensity of peer pressure. Therefore, universities and students should collaborate to mitigate these pressures through equipping students with coping skills, fostering positive relationships, and enhancing emotional regulation, as well as integrating soft skills courses and extracurricular activities to strengthen adaptability and resilience in overcoming challenges.
