Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationships between happiness at school, self-esteem, and academic satisfaction among secondary students. Data were collected from 719 lower secondary students in Ho Chi Minh City. The results showed that all facets of students’ happiness at school (including positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and achievement) were correlated positively with self-esteem and academic satisfaction from moderate to strong levels. In addition, happiness at school significantly predicted higher levels of self-esteem and academic satisfaction  at low to moderate levels. This study highlights the role of students’ well-being at school as a significant factor contributing to the healthy development of adolescents in school settings.
