The role of Sociology of Law in the legislative process in Vietnam

Abstract

The sociology of law is an interdisciplinary science between sociology and jurisprudence, studying the process of emergence, formation, and development of legal events. Therefore, sociology of law plays a crucial role in analysing and assessing the actual state of social relations that require legal regulation, assisting lawmakers to objectively and

comprehensively evaluate social relations, thereby promulgating laws in accordance with social realities. On the other hand, after laws are promulgated, research in the sociology of law is significant in evaluating the process of laws implemented in practice, addressing questions such as: "Do legal subjects understand and comply with legal regulations?" or "Are there any obstacles or shortcomings in enforcement?", thereby proposing solutions for amending and supplementing the laws. Given its significance, in that sence, the sociology of law has been taught and studied in many universities, particularly institutions specialising in law and sociology, as well as applied research to serve law-making activities and enhance the effectiveness of law enforcement activities.
