High-technology applications in agricultural production: insights from farmers’ psychological readiness

Readiness to apply high technology in agricultural production refers to farmers’ psychological preparedness to make changes toward a new mode of farming. In this study, readiness is conceptualized across three dimensions: cognitive, emotional, and behavioral intention. The article examines the readiness of farmers in the former Lam Dong province to adopt high-tech agricultural practices. A total of 122 farmers from Duc Trong District and Da Lat City (formerly belonging to Lam Dong) participated in the study. The survey results indicate that farmers’ overall psychological readiness to adopt high technology in agriculture is high. However, alongside the group with high readiness, a proportion of farmers remains at a lower level of readiness.
