Occupational Values of Hanoi Students in The Ccontext of Digital Transformation: Current Status and Influencing Factors

Abstract

This study examined the occupational values of university students in Hanoi in the context of digital transformation, focusing on the hierarchy of occupational values and the factors influencing their choice. The study draws on survey data from 618 students enrolled at three higher education institutions in Hanoi, employing descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and multivariate logistic regression to examine the factors influencing the occupational values pursued by students in the context of digital transformation. The findings indicated that students place great importance on economic values, occupational security, social values, and self-development; whereas digital flexibility, status affirmation, and family-traditional values were considered significantly less important. Digital transformation-related factors, particularly students’ perceptions of occupational risks and career opportunities, were found to be significantly associated with multiple dimensions of occupational values. These findings suggested that while values such as security, stability, and family orientation continue to play an important role in students’ career orientations, they are increasingly integrated in realtion to new demands for self-development, self-reliance, and adaptability to the digital labor market.
