Đau khổ là phản ứng tự nhiên của con người trước những sự kiện, biến cố của cuộc đời. Những nghiên cứu gần đây cho thấy, tỷ lệ đau khổ tâm lý ở sinh viên cao hơn nhóm dân số nói chung (Mboya và cộng sự, 2020; Granieri, 2021). Vì vậy, nghiên cứu này khảo sát mức độ đau khổ tâm lý ở 583 sinh viên Trường Đại học Sư phạm - Đại học Đà Nẵng bằng thang đo Đau khổ tâm lý của Kessler và cộng sự (Kessler và cộng sự, 2002). Kết quả cho thấy, mức độ đau khổ tâm lý của sinh viên từ bình thường, nhẹ, vừa đến nghiêm trọng lần lượt là 17,3%; 20,1%; 30,5% và 32,1%. Có sự khác biệt thống kê về mức độ đau khổ tâm lý của sinh viên dưới góc độ nhân khẩu học. Trong đó, điểm trung bình thang đo Đau khổ tâm lý ở sinh viên nữ và sinh viên nhóm tuổi từ 18 - 20 cao hơn (p < 0,05). Những phát hiện này cung cấp thêm bằng chứng về mức độ đau khổ tâm lý, là cơ sở để các cấp quản lý, các lực lượng giáo dục có các biện pháp hỗ trợ sức khỏe tâm thần cho sinh viên tại Trường Đại học Sư phạm - Đại học Đà Nẵng.
