Abstract

This article aims to evaluate the levels of academic stress and psychological distress, as well as the relationship between these two factors, among adolescents. The study sample consists of 310 secondary school students from Dinh Thien Ly Secondary and High School, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. The measurement tools used are the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents (ESSA) and the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10). Descriptive statistics and correlation analyses were performed using SPSS 20. The results indicate that adolescents at Dinh Thien Ly Secondary and High School, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, experience a moderate level of academic stress and a moderate level of psychological distress, with a significant positive correlation between academic stress and psychological distress among adolescents. These findings provide a basis for developing interventions to offer psychological support for adolescents. From these findings, it can be seen that to reduce psychological distress in adolescents, there should be a focus on measures to reduce their academic stress.
