Corruption is a form of deviant social behavior that not only violates the law but also reflects deviations within the social norm system, such as ethics, culture, and customary practices. The article analyses corrupt behaviour through the lens of sociological theories and the practical context of anti- corruption and corrupt asset recovery in Vietnam. The author applies theoretical concepts to interpret the actual situation of corruption in current context, particularly clarifying the relationship among social structures, cultural norms, and mechanisms of controlling deviant behaviour. On that basis, the article presents several research findings and proposes solutions aimed at enhancing the efficacy of corruption prevention and control, and corrupt asset recovery.
